I have been using the flip diapers for about a month now. We are really enjoying them and like everything about them. It is a great economical alternative to the bumgenius! They fit well, are very slim and the soakers work quite well.
these dipes are awesome – switched from disposable to Flip at 6 mo., and baby has had ZERO leaks, they are slimmer than the other dipes, and because I can re-se the cover a few times, the entire package is much cheaper than othe brands. I just have 6 covers and 18 inserts and all is well. QUESTION – I use 1/8C CountrySave in my front loader. They come out super clean, but after 1 pee the covers have an ammonia smell. I read on your site that it could be due to too much detergent? I also throw in a large wet towel to encourage the machine to use a little more water. Thoughts?
You need to use oxiclean (just 1/4 to 1/8 of a cup) in each wash cycle to help with the odor. Also make sure they are rinsing clean…check the water during the rinse cycle, if you see suds…do another rinse cycle.
I love the Flip diapers! They wash well and I haven’t had any smell issues. I also have the Econobum set which I am pleased with, but if you have a little extra cash, I’d spend it on the Flip system. The Econobum with the prefold is bulkier and the cover is less sturdy than the Flip, but no leaks on either system or smells.
I love Flips! If they’d had them when we first bought diapers, I’d have bought them instead of any other kinds (we use prefolds and a variety of pocket diapers as well). They’re less bulky than all the others, there’s less to wash, and they wick – all the best of prefolds and AIOs!
