The soft, waterproof outer fabric keeps the diaper trim on your newborn and toddler. Soft, sueded inner fabric gently wicks moisture away from your baby's skin. For those of you just beginning, this is a "one-size pocket diaper". That means that those snaps along the front snap down to create different sizes, allowing it to fit from 8 pounds all the way to potty training (and beyond - they still fit my 4 year old, so I know they'd fit large kids who still need night-time insurance even after day-time potty training.) The "pocket diaper" part means that a waterproof outer layer is sewn to a synthetic stay-dry inner layer to create something sort of like a pillowcase, with an opening toward one end. A rectangular piece of microfiber, called an insert, is put inside. Microfiber absorbs 7-9 times its weight in liquid, so it provides a lot of absorption without a lot of bulk. The urine goes through that stay-dry inner, into the insert, and stays there. The pieces then separate to ensure thorough cleaning.
