Full-time newborn Test-Drive Set (return for $99.00 credit)

Use this set on your baby for 90 days, and then, when you've decided what works best for you, return it for $99.00 store credit. Parents have said that while purchasing the diapers they USE has saved them a lot of expense, it was trying out different diapers before settling on the kind that they liked that made their experience a little more expensive. So I've created a set of newborn diapers that you can see, touch, and even TRY, and then send back!

This set includes at least one of each diaper we sell that will fit a newborn, so you can try them all. Most of these diapers have been tried by others but are in great condition. You will receive information on how to use each type of diaper and how to care for them. Plan to order this set 1-2 weeks before your due date so that you have time to become familiar with them, wash the new ones, and put everything away before baby arrives.

You'll get 3-4 of most fitted diapers, and at least one of pocket, all-in-one, and one-size diapers. You'll always have at least 18-20 diapers. Although the exact list may change if we add new products to the store, here is an example of what your test-drive kit is likely to contain:

How the Test-Drive Program Works:
It takes us an extra day or two to process test drive sets, so you will receive your diapers in about a week, along with instructions for their care. You may have new diapers in your set, which means they may require several washings before use. Use them on your baby until their due date, 90 days after you received them. It is likely your baby will begin to grow out of some of these diapers before your time is up - that's normal. We build in a little buffer time so that you can order a week or two before your due date and have time to wash your diapers and take a good look at how they work.

You will pay to ship them back, and the method is up to you. But I must receive them to issue credit, so some people use insurance or tracking to be certain they know where they are at all times.
When the diapers are returned, your credit will be activated and you will receive a gift certificate code to use to purchase new diapers. We realize that this leaves a "diaper gap" between returning one set and receiving your order. To minimize the wait time, some people have alerted me of their order ahead of time so that I could set their diapers aside and be ready to ship immediately. Others have made a small purchase to get them through the days it takes to get their credit, and then finished their order with their credit. Our packages are sent by 2-3 day mail, and if you return them the same way, it is usually less than a week's wait between test-drive set and your own set.

While we ask you to take good care of our diapers, we realize that newborn babies leave bright yellow stains on everything. Don't let this bother you. Stains will NOT affect your credit. If you tried too hard to keep them stain-free you wouldn't enjoy your experience and the diapers may suffer extra wear from the extra cleaning. We are experts at removing stains (an overnight soak in hot water and 3-4 scoops of oxy-clean is the secret.)

Test-drive Set FAQs

1. How long can I keep the diapers? The window in which to take advantage of trading them in for store credit runs out 90 days after your purchase (If you find that you need more time, however, just email. We've yet to reduce anyone's credit because they needed more time, or their baby arrived later than expected, or spent unexpected time in NICU before they got to use the diapers). Most babies are outgrowing newborn sizes before three months, and you'll find that some fit better at the beginning, and some, like the Snappi diapers and the one-size diapers, fit better toward the end of your 90 days. Many of the diapers could be used much longer, but it is designed to get you past the tiny newborn period, which usually lasts the first 1-3 months. You will receive full instructions on how and when to return them for store credit. If you decide to keep some and send the rest back, the charge will be full retail for a diaper that was new, and marked down for used ones. In some instances this will be more then the actual credit for the test drive kit. Please be advised that we will ask for the full retail value of the kit if you decide to keep it. In some instances this may in the realm of $200 to $300, if your test drive kit contained mostly new diapers.

2. What if I lose or damage a diaper? If you lose a diaper, you will have to pay the replacement cost. If a diaper is damaged due to user error (ie ? you bleach a diaper, the dog eats it), you will have to pay the replacement cost. Baby stains are NOT considered "damage" and will not affect your credit. If snaps come off, seams unravel, or they are otherwise showing age, you are not responsible. But please alert us so that we can remove that diaper from the set.

3. Is this sanitary? As sanitary as that hospital gown you used during birth or the sheets at the birth center. We will treat the diapers after each user. Some light staining will be normal, (but most are stain-free). If used diapers make you squeamish, these test drive sets are not for you. Newborns are so gentle to diapers - they look great even after many users.

4. How will I know what to do with the diapers? Full use and washing instructions will be provided, and we are always here to help.

5. How long are the diapers used before I get them? We want to ensure that you will be using diapers that are in good shape, so diapers will be replaced regularly. Each package is likely to contain some new diapers and some old, as we will replace any that seem to be lacking in performance or appearance. Diapers are usually used four times, covers are only used twice.

6. What happens to the diapers after they're taken out of rotation? Diapers are taken out of these test drive sets long before they're really worn out. They will have some life left. The program is not old enough to have produced a lot of used diapers, but I've sent most on mission or graduate study trips abroad or given them to birth centers as samples to show moms or give away. More recently "Feed the Children" has expressed interest in sending diapers to the areas they service. As the program continues and the number of used diapers continues to increase, we may offer them for sale at a deep discount, but I would like to continue to use them as a way to reach out to less fortunate moms around the world or as loan sets to help Diaper Circles associated with the RealDiaperAssociation.org advocate the use of cloth diapers here in the U.S.

7. What's the catch? I've added this question recently. I saw it on a couple of message boards and it made me smile. People have even emailed to make sure there's not some hidden clause. It seems too good to be true, that you can try a set of diapers for 3 months for such a small charge. Basically, you are sharing each set, and their cost, with 3 other moms. We send each set out about 4 times (of course, we mix them so that everyone gets some old, some new). You are 1/4 of the use of the set, and you're paying about 1/4 their cost. So there's no catch. It helps you to purchase with confidence, people are happier with their purchases (which makes me happy since I have fewer returns), it cuts down on questions people have, and it wins over reluctant dads.
