We are beginning a series of write-ins and are asking for customer comments and stories. We want to get to know our customers and their cloth diapering routines. We are hoping to get a better idea of what you, the customer, wants from us, your friendly cloth diaper store.
How I started Cloth Diapering:
It was so long ago when I started cloth diapering my first, its hard to remember how I got into it. I was a young mom and being earthy wasn’t even popular yet. I saw a catalog in my midwife’s office and was immediately sold on the idea. This was almost 16 years ago, when all they had were prefolds and rubber pants! My fanciest diapers were prefolds that had velcro on them! I was nursing my baby, making my own baby food, recycling, and using reusable bags, why not cloth diaper as well. My children have rarely had diaper rashes, our utilities did not go up (even with 2 in cloth), and our house isn’t smelly with plastic poop bombs all wadded up in the trash can.
It did not take a lot of convincing to get my husband on board either. He was a little intimidated at first with the diaper origami, but willingly helped with flushing poop and watched closely as I folded and flipped those prefolds on the baby. When our son was born, 11 years later, I found pocket diapers for him. Daddy was on board 100%, and became the ultimate diaper daddy while I was away working a few nights a week. Even our oldest daughter helped out in changing diapers with the ease of pockets.

A little while after our son was born, we were presented with the opportunity to purchase the Sunshine Diapers company, and the rest is as they say, history! My husband immediately supported the endeavor and we have been on a mission to educate new parents on the benefits of cloth diapers to babies, economy, and the environment ever since. When our 3rd child was born, we used the opportunity to test out new and exciting diapers on her. Always striving to bring our customers quality and affordable cloth diapering products, that have been tested by us on our own children.
We want to know how you got into cloth diapers. Was your significant other on board immediately or need convincing? How about the rest of the family, did your mother-in-law turn up her nose, or quickly start knitting up wool soakers for you?
